Obituary for Dorothy M. Thorne (1970-2024)
Dorothy Marie Thorne, age 53, of Narberth, passed away peacefully in Paoli Hospital on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, ending her long and courageous 13 year battle with cancer. Born in Wynnewood, PA, Dorothy was the mother of her beloved daughter, Emma Thorne of Narberth, the beloved daughter of Margaret “Peggy” (nee Schmader) Thorne-Kelly-Rosso of Collingswood, NJ (Dave Rosso) and the late Frank Thorne, the cherished sister of Frank Thorne, Jr. (Denise) and the late Patrick John “P.J.” Thorne and the proud aunt of Hannah Thorne and Mason Thorne. In addition, Dorothy was the treasured niece of the late Walter and his wife, the late Roseanne Nodolski, Mary Pishock and her late husband Steve, of Triangle, VA, Frances Kelley and her late husband Joseph, of Narberth, Jean and her husband Robert Lewis, of Malvern, PA, and Alice and her husband Carl Evans, of Clark Summit, PA and all her many cousins.
Dorothy was a life long and devout member of St. Margaret of Antioch Church, a graduate of Archbishop John Carroll High School, Class of 1988 and then continued her education at Delaware Valley University, earning her Bachelor of Science Degrees in Ornamental Horticulture and Business in 1992. For several years, Dorothy worked as a landscape designer for a garden center, as well as for some of the local landscaping contractors. At St. Margaret’s, Dorothy did volunteer work where needed and ran the After Cares Program for the school children. She will be remembered as a very creative and active woman that enjoyed arts & crafts, gardening and hiking in the outdoors.
Relatives and friends are invited to St. Margaret of Antioch Church, 208 N. Narberth Ave., Narberth, PA 19072 on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, where her family will greet guests from 9:00 a.m. until 10:20 a.m. and her Memorial Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Emma Thorne to assist with completing her college degree.
